Expert Bio

Brian Fishman is a Counterterrorism Research Fellow at the New America Foundation and a Research Fellow with the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) at West Point. He previously served as the CTC’s Director of Research and was a professor in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point. As part of his duties at West Point, Fishman deployed to Iraq and served on the CENTCOM Assessment Team. Fishman was a founding editor of the CTC Sentinel. Before joining the CTC in 2005, Fishman was the Foreign Affairs/Defense Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey (CA-6). He has published in the Washington Quarterly, the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Foreign Policy and numerous edited volumes. Fishman holds a Masters in International Affairs (MIA) from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of California Los Angeles.
